It was tragedy. In September 11, 2001, 4
hijacked planes attempted to attack the WTC and Pentagon. North and South towers
of World Trade Center collapsed
and around 3000 people died in this attacks. The hijackers were operated by al-Qaeda
and Osama Bin Laden. According to the article “The World After 9/11” by Yale
Global, Osama Bin Laden’s goal was to recreate the quagmire that bled dry the Soviet
Union in the 1980s with America as the victim.
9/11 has maden many
change in US and the world. First of all, it also attacked economy of the US.
Second, people who live in US became feel fear for the terror. Third, according
the article “The World After 9/11” by Yale Global, the attack led directly to
the war in Afghanistan and indirectly to the war in Iraq. Forth, it also changed
the national security infrastructure of the US.
Some people feel
they are not in safe. Because there has been many attempt to hurt the US again
and some other people feel they are in safe now at least approaching it because
they think they know their “enemy” exactly. Second group are may think that the
government of the US did everything that they should do. And they probably
think they are winner for “the war on terror”. In addition, they already killed Osama Bin Laden, so they may think they already cut the root of terror.
However, I do not
think so. Not only the people who live in the US but all the people can be into
dangerous situation. According to John Payne in The American Conservative, he,
the Osama Bin Laden was not just leader of terrorist. He was symbol himself.
And I think until he been forgotten their memory, they will continue terror to
the US.
Secondly, I think
the US did it do everything that it should to keep America safe. But they did
it only after 9/11. According to CNN article on 7/29/2004, some people argued
that the former president ignored the warning about 9/11.
And finally, I
think there is no winner for “war on terror”. No one got something. The government
loses the trust from people, the people lose another people and the terrorist
lose their life.
